What to Do and See

From our visitor book ...

There are some beautiful beaches to see. A fabulous walk from Patitiri takes you to a beach where there is a rock pool and cave – amazing for swimming and snorkelling. The old town is lovely to wander around and to have lunch / dinner.

The sea is the focal point for many activities on Alonissos.

You can take boat trips to explore the uninhabited islands. You can also visit beaches and coves that are inaccessible by land. These trips can be combined with snorkelling trips and walking tours over the islands. If you feel like being more active, then scuba diving is available from Steni Vala.

Alonissos is perfect for walkers. The interior is densely wooded with beautiful pine trees and the scent of thyme and oregano is intoxicating. Olive groves and old river beds, gorges and spectacular coastlines – all are on view. Walking tours are available to take you to the island’s most beautiful spots. The guides are very informative and will point out the amazing flora and fauna of Alonissos. There is also a guide to the island in the villa, so if you prefer to explore unaccompanied, you can.

Horio, the Old Village, is a maze of winding cobbled streets, old churches and beautifully renovated houses. The sunsets are stunning and the views across the two sides of the island are breathtaking. Visit the island folklore museum and see how life was years ago on Alonissos. In the evening, the village really comes alive and there are a number of really good tavernas.

Patitiri is the island’s main port and harbour. It’s a bustling centre of activity – great for people watching! Visit Kostas and Angela Mavrikis’ museum too. It’s set high on the hillside overlooking the harbour. There are excellent and informative displays on the pirate days of Alonissos and its wine growing history amongst others. Your entrance fee includes a drink on the superb rooftop terrace, which has stunning views. The MOM exhibition area is also in Patitiri. You can find out more about the Marine Park and the Mediterranean Monk Seal and its habitat.

Fancy improving your painting skills? Then why not try a painting day or holiday? Yoga classes and massages are also available either on a daily basis or as part of a course. These are available throughout the year.

And remember – after every day out, you can return to the luxury villa you have rented to delight in its relaxing charms all over again!
